An energetic Jimmy was into sports early on, with swim squad throughout school. After realising his running ability in cross country running and looking for a change, Jimmy competing in the Noosa Kids Triathlon in 2001.
By 2005 Jimmy had some great results under his belt, winning the Australian Junior Title, Australian Junior Series and Australian Junior Triathlete of the Year as well.
Building on his Junior success, he had some solid results in 2007 and 2008, but it was in 2009 where he made his mark. Starting the year with a 10th at Mooloolabah, Jimmy's first big year of international racing saw him with an 11th Place at Madrid among several other Top 20 results.
He finished 2009 as World Championship Silver Medallist and Overall U23 ITU Series Winner.
